Why the Camry engine earns a focus slot

The Camry is the sedan of Nigeria and the taxi standard of the Gulf. That installed base alone would justify carrying the 2AZ — but this engine adds a second driver of demand: the 2002–2011 units have a well-documented appetite for oil, so tired originals get replaced rather than repaired. Few engines connect West Africa and the GCC in a single model the way this one does.

For a counter in Lagos or Accra, a Grade A 2AZ is among the fastest-moving high-value petrol units on the shelf; in Saudi Arabia and the Emirates it keeps taxi fleets on the road.

Supply advantage: the Camry is built in Guangzhou

The Camry has been manufactured in Guangzhou itself since 2006, which makes the city one of the deepest donor pools for this engine anywhere. That depth is what lets a container be built from Grade A engines only; availability per model is still confirmed in each quotation.

It is the clearest case in our catalogue of demand and sourcing sitting in the same place — the buyer's market wants the engine, and the Guangzhou warehouse we source from sits next to the supply.

What you receive

Grade A only, like everything we export: engines supplied as removed from the vehicle (what is fitted varies by unit and shows in each engine's photos). Each engine is cleaned, handled and looked over, and its crankshaft is turned by hand with a tool to confirm that the mechanism rotates. It is then photographed from every side, and the photos go into your order file as "Engine 1", "Engine 2", "Engine 3" and so on.

What the check covers: a manual crankshaft rotation check and an individual photo record. It is not a compression, leak-down, bench or running test, so on its own it does not prove how an engine will run once installed.

Oil consumption is the known weak point of the early 2AZ, and no hand check can measure it. Many buyers of this family have their installer run a compression check before fitting — it is the test that says most about an early 2AZ.

Frequently asked

How much does a used 2AZ-FE engine cost?

ENGICOR's published wholesale price for a used 2AZ-FE engine is US$ 490 per engine, gearbox not included, FOB Guangzhou, Grade A, inside a full container of 90 (20-ft) or 130 (40-ft) engines. A first order can start from 10 engines at the same list price, with no first-order surcharge, and consolidated freight quoted separately. Sea freight, insurance, duty and port charges are on top and depend on your destination.

Can I mix 2AZ with other families in one container?

Yes — a common Nigeria load is 2AZ and 2ZR as the value base with 1NZ volume underneath. Engines-only loads are 90 in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, whatever the mix of models.

Does the 2AZ oil-consumption issue affect what you ship?

It is why we are precise about scope. Every engine is Grade A, cleaned, turned over at the crankshaft by hand with a tool to confirm it rotates, and photographed from every side. That is not a compression, leak-down or running test and cannot measure oil consumption — if it matters to your customers, have your installer run a compression check before fitting.

Do you also supply the 2AR for newer Camrys?

On request. The 2AR-FE is outside our seventeen published models, so it is handled as a commercial enquiry — tell us the model years and quantities and sales confirms availability and price in the quotation.
