Diesel and light commercial lead here
Tanzania's transport economy runs on light trucks and pickups doing work that passenger cars do elsewhere: produce, water, construction materials, rural distribution. That tilts demand toward Isuzu diesel and the Toyota 2KD family more than in the coastal West African markets.
Passenger petrol still sells — the Probox and Corolla platforms are everywhere — but a container built only around 1NZ leaves margin on the table here.
Where Core and Grade C actually pay
Local rebuild capacity is real in Tanzania, and rebuilders buy what they can bring back rather than what looks best in a photo. Core units sold by lot and Grade C diesel move steadily, at prices that let a workshop recondition and still make money.
If you are supplying rebuilders rather than counters, tell us at quotation stage — the container we would build for you is completely different.
Documentation for the lane
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and bill of lading, under HS 8407 and 8408. Tanzanian imports commonly require pre-shipment conformity documentation; confirm the current requirement with your clearing agent and we prepare paperwork to match the lane.
