Import used engines to Tanzania: TBS PVoC and Dar es Salaam

Tanzania buys the small Toyota petrol families as steadily as any market we serve. The lane rewards one habit above all: arranging the TBS conformity certificate before the container sails.

Wholesale onlyRegular orders are one full container — 90 engines in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, or with gearboxes 45 + 45 / 65 + 65. New customers can make their first purchase from 10 engines (10, 20, 30 or 40), with gearboxes and consolidated shipping, at list price, with no first-order surcharge (LCL freight quoted separately): first-order offer. A second order can start from 45 engines, also at list price. We do not sell single units.

More modelsBeyond the models on this page we hold many more — 488 engine and gearbox families in our warehouse list, always subject to inventory changes. Tell us how many units you need so we can give you the best price: full stock list.

The models Tanzania actually buys

The Vitz, the Probox and the IST are the working fleet of Dar es Salaam, which makes the 2NZ-FE the volume engine of this lane, with the 1NZ-FE close behind. Diesel demand follows the Hilux and Hiace fleet.

A first Tanzanian container is usually weighted toward 2NZ and 1NZ — complete Grade A units a counter can sell on quickly.

PVoC under TBS

Tanzania operates Pre-shipment Verification of Conformity under the Tanzania Bureau of Standards. Consignments subject to the programme must arrive with a Certificate of Conformity issued before shipment by an authorized agency — arrive without it and the consignment faces rejection or penalties at the port. Used motor-vehicle spare parts carry their own inspection requirement under TBS notices, so the question for your clearing agent is not whether the programme exists but exactly how it applies to used engines from China on the current rules — programmes are revised, and the detail matters more than the summary.

When origin inspection is required, it happens at the Guangzhou warehouse we work from: the engines, the order photo file and the logistics company that prepares the export documents are in one place, which is precisely what an inspector wants to see.

Who does what

The conformity certificate is arranged around the exporter's side before shipment. The import declaration, duty and VAT are the importer's side, under the engine headings — 8407 petrol, 8408 diesel. Rates move with Tanzania's finance acts; confirm current figures with your agent.

Our contribution is documents that match the declaration exactly: commercial invoice, a packing list with engine models and quantities referenced to the order photo file, certificate of origin, bill of lading.

Dar es Salaam and the corridor

Dar es Salaam serves Tanzania and the transit corridor into Zambia, the DRC and beyond. If your final market is inland, declare it at quotation: transit paperwork is cheaper arranged before booking than argued after arrival.

Build the mix you want in the online quoter — 90 engines in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, or 45 + 45 / 65 + 65 with gearboxes — and the FOB total reaches your inbox the same minute, at our published per-unit prices, every engine Grade A. Prefer to ask? Tell us the destination country and the models you need and we reply within one business day, usually within hours.

Frequently asked

What happens if the container arrives without a CoC?

Consignments subject to PVoC that arrive uncertified face rejection or penalties at the port, plus storage while it is resolved. The certificate costs less than any of those outcomes.

Does the used-parts inspection rule apply to engines from China?

TBS notices establish origin inspection for used vehicle spare parts; scope and origins are revised. Your clearing agent confirms the current position for the China lane, and we coordinate what must happen at origin.

Which engines should a first Tanzanian container carry?

The bulk in 2NZ-FE and 1NZ-FE — Grade A, each cleaned, given a manual crankshaft rotation check and photographed from every side. Diesel on top only if your customers run the Hilux/Hiace fleet.
