Same size, one generation apart
The Gamma family is Hyundai-Kia's small aluminium-block petrol four. In the G4FC, introduced in 2006, continuously variable valve timing works on the intake camshaft only, for about 124 PS. The G4FG is the Gamma II MPI: same 1,591 cc and the same bore and stroke, with dual CVVT on both camshafts and about 123–134 PS depending on the vehicle.
The 1.4-litre G4FA and the G4FC are compared in G4FA vs G4FC; this guide is about the two 1.6 engines that share a displacement and are therefore the easiest pair in the family to confuse.

Why they are not interchangeable
The dual-CVVT head of the G4FG carries a second cam phaser and its own oil-control hardware, and the engine control unit of each car is calibrated for the engine it was built with. Fitting one in place of the other is a workshop conversion, not a like-for-like swap, so stock the model the car carries.
Some nameplates used both in different years — the Soul and the Accent among them — which is why the vehicle name alone does not settle the order. Ask for the engine model stamped on the block; the photos in your order file show the engine code or identification plate where it is visible.
How to split a container
The G4FC is the lowest-priced engine in our published range and follows the older, larger small-car population; the G4FG follows the newer Elantra, Cerato and Soul generations and costs more per unit. Most small-car containers carry both, weighted by the model years of the local parc. Our check is the same for every engine: cleaning, handling, a manual crankshaft rotation with a tool to confirm the mechanism turns, and photos from every side, delivered to you as an order file — Engine 1, Engine 2 and so on. It is not a compression, leak-down, bench or running test, so it does not prove how an engine will run once installed. You don't need to travel to buy, but you or your representative are welcome to visit for a Guangzhou Inspection Day and review your prepared lot in person, with a USD 1,000 visit deposit credited to your order.
A 20-ft container takes 90 engines and a 40-ft 130, Grade A only, in any mix of the nineteen published models. See the Hyundai-Kia family page and build the mix on the quote page.
