Buying used engines in bulk, without the usual surprises

Written for the buyer comparing wholesale suppliers. What a serious bulk offer looks like, what decides your per-unit economics, and the paperwork that separates a wholesale operation from a yard with a phone number.

Wholesale onlyRegular orders are one full container — 90 engines in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, or with gearboxes 45 + 45 / 65 + 65. New customers can make their first purchase from 10 engines (10, 20, 30 or 40), with gearboxes and consolidated shipping, at list price, with no first-order surcharge (LCL freight quoted separately): first-order offer. A second order can start from 45 engines, also at list price. We do not sell single units.

More modelsBeyond the models on this page we hold many more — 488 engine and gearbox families in our warehouse list, always subject to inventory changes. Tell us how many units you need so we can give you the best price: full stock list.

Bulk has a precise meaning in this trade

Most sellers who advertise used engines in bulk mean: we will sell you whatever quantity you ask for, priced on the day. At container scale that vagueness is where margins die — half-full containers ship air, mixed grades ship disputes, and a negotiable quantity usually means the loading plan is improvised.

Serious wholesale works the other way around: a fixed load format, a published per-unit price, and a mix you choose inside it. At ENGICOR there are four configurations — 90 engines or 45 engines + 45 gearboxes in a 20-ft, 130 engines or 65 engines + 65 gearboxes in a 40-ft. The configuration is the standard; the mix is yours. We work from a large-scale warehouse in Guangzhou, with an inventory of 2,000+ engines, and availability per model is confirmed in each quotation.

What decides your per-unit economics

Three numbers: the published unit price of each model you load, the configuration of the container, and freight for your lane. Published engine prices run from USD 300 to USD 780 per unit depending on the model, so a 20-ft of 90 engines ranges from USD 27,000 to USD 70,200 depending entirely on the mix. In the mixed configurations, gearboxes are added at their own, lower published prices.

You can price your exact container in two minutes at engicor.com/quote/ and receive the FOB total by email — calculated from the same published prices as this site, valid for 14 days, with no negotiation theatre.

The quality question, answered plainly

Bulk buying collapses when quality is a vague promise. Ours is specific: we supply Grade A engines only, clean and carefully presented. Each engine is cleaned, handled and looked over, and its crankshaft is turned by hand with a tool to confirm that the mechanism rotates. It is then photographed from every side, and your order gets a photo file organised Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3…

What the check covers: a manual crankshaft rotation check and an individual photo record. It is not a compression, leak-down, bench or running test, so on its own it does not prove how an engine will run once installed. The standard is described at engicor.com/grading/. Used gearboxes in mixed loads are sold untested and as-is (in their current condition).

How payment is staged

Two percentages of the agreed order total: a 30% deposit starts order preparation and arranges the shipping booking; the remaining 70% is settled before shipment. In between, your engines are checked and documented with supervised video and individual photographs, reviewed digitally before shipment — or, if you prefer, at the Guangzhou warehouse in person, on an Inspection Day where the 30% starts with a visit deposit, credited in full (USD 500 for a visit tied to a first order of 10–40 engines; USD 1,000 for container orders). All terms are set out in the written Proforma Invoice. If we cannot prepare the agreed lot within 15 working days of your deposit, the 30% deposit is refunded in full. If a unit's photos show a problem and we cannot replace it with another unit of the same model, the part of the deposit for that unit is refunded.

Every transfer goes by bank transfer (T/T) to the corporate account whose beneficiary name matches the company and its Sharjah Media City Free Zone licence. The steps in full: engicor.com/process/.

The paperwork a wholesale order should produce

A written Proforma Invoice fixing models, quantities, price, Incoterm and the payment steps; the supervised video; the per-order photo file; a packing list listing engine models and quantities with the same Engine 1, Engine 2… references; and a commercial invoice and certificate of origin that match it. At the Guangzhou warehouse, a logistics company with its office on site coordinates the container, shipping and export documents.

If a bulk seller cannot show you this chain before you pay, that is the answer to whether you should.

Price a container yourself

Build the mix you want in the online quoter — 90 engines in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, or 45 + 45 / 65 + 65 with gearboxes — and the FOB total reaches your inbox the same minute, at our published per-unit prices, every engine Grade A. Prefer to ask? Tell us the destination country and the models you need and we reply within one business day, usually within hours.

New customer? Your first order can start with 10, 20, 30 or 40 engines, with gearboxes and consolidated shipping available — first purchase only, at list price, with no first-order surcharge. See the first-order offer →

Frequently asked

What is the minimum bulk order?

One full container, in one of four configurations: 90 engines or 45 engines + 45 gearboxes in a 20-ft, 130 engines or 65 engines + 65 gearboxes in a 40-ft. No loose units, no partial pallets. The mix of models inside the container is yours. The one exception: a new customer’s first purchase can start from 10 engines (10, 20, 30 or 40), with gearboxes and consolidated shipping available, at our published list price per unit, with no first-order surcharge (LCL sea freight from Guangzhou is quoted separately).

Can I mix engine models in one container?

Yes — any mix of the 17 engine models with published prices, as long as the engine count matches the configuration (90 or 130 engines only, or 45 / 65 engines in a mixed load). The quote tool at engicor.com/quote/ prices the exact mix instantly.

How do I get the wholesale price list?

It is already public: 17 engine models carry published per-unit prices on the engine pages and in the quote tool, and the gearboxes for mixed loads carry their own. Prices are the same for every buyer at full-container volume.

Do bulk orders get a discount?

Prices are already wholesale: per-unit, published, and set for full-container orders. The container is the discount format — there is no retail price to discount from, and no negotiation that changes the published figure.

How long does a bulk order take from deposit to sailing?

It depends on the mix, availability per model and the lane, and the timing is confirmed in your quotation. The sequence is fixed: the 30% deposit starts preparation and the shipping booking, the engines are checked and documented with video and photographs, then the 70% balance is settled before shipment — with milestone updates at least every five days.
