Two engines, one very large Nissan fleet

The MR20DE is the 2.0-litre engine of the X-Trail T31, the first-generation Qashqai and the Sentra and Sylphy saloons; the HR16DE is the 1.6 of the Tiida, Note, Versa, Juke and Kicks. Between them they cover most of the Nissan petrol cars sold across the Gulf, Egypt, Iraq and the CIS from the mid-2000s on — a fleet that is now well into replacement age.

They are also the lowest-priced engines in our published catalogue, which makes them a natural way to lower the average price of a mixed container without leaving the Japanese makes your customers trust.

Order by the exact code

Nissan uses closely related engines across the same model names, so the code matters more than the car. The Sunny sold in the Gulf and Egypt is usually the 1.5-litre HR15DE, not the HR16DE; many Tiidas carry the 1.8-litre MR18DE. Those are different engines and are supplied on request.

Read the code on the block or on the vehicle's documents before you order — our guide to identifying an engine model shows where to look. When in doubt, send us the VIN and year and we confirm the code in the quotation.

What you receive, and what about the CVT

Grade A only, like everything we export: engines supplied as removed from the vehicle (what is fitted varies by unit and shows in each engine's photos). Each engine is cleaned, handled and looked over, and its crankshaft is turned by hand with a tool to confirm that the mechanism rotates. It is then photographed from every side, and the photos go into your order file as "Engine 1", "Engine 2", "Engine 3" and so on.

What the check covers: a manual crankshaft rotation check and an individual photo record. It is not a compression, leak-down, bench or running test, so on its own it does not prove how an engine will run once installed.

Most of these cars left the factory with a CVT, and the MR20DE gearbox we list is a CVT. All our gearboxes for this family are two-wheel drive only. Gearboxes, if you add them, are sold untested and as-is — a CVT cannot be judged without driving it under load — which is why we price them separately and say so plainly.

Price a container yourself

Build the mix you want in the online quoter — 90 engines in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, or 45 + 45 / 65 + 65 with gearboxes — and the FOB total reaches your inbox the same minute, at our published per-unit prices, every engine Grade A. Prefer to ask? Tell us the destination country and the models you need and we reply within one business day, usually within hours.

Frequently asked

Is the HR16DE the same engine as the Sunny 1.5?

No. The Sunny sold in the Gulf and Egypt usually has the 1.5-litre HR15DE, a close relative but a different engine. The HR16DE (1.6) has a published price of US$ 300 per unit; the HR15DE is supplied on request.

Can I mix Nissan with Toyota and Hyundai-Kia in one container?

Yes, and most buyers do. A container is priced on the mix of models, not on the brand: 90 engines in a 20-ft or 130 in a 40-ft, or 45 + 45 / 65 + 65 with gearboxes.

Do you supply the gearbox for the MR20DE and HR16DE?

Yes, in the mixed configurations only: US$ 190 for the MR20DE gearbox (a CVT), and for the HR16DE US$ 190 for the conventional automatic or US$ 230 for the CVT. All three are two-wheel drive only, and used gearboxes are sold untested and as-is.

Do you have the QR25DE too?

Yes — the 2.5-litre QR25DE of the X-Trail, Altima and Teana is also in the published catalogue, at US$ 470 per unit.
